MIAMI — Royal Caribbean International’s Icon of the Seas has arrived in Miami ahead of its official debut on Jan. 27.
The highly-anticipated ship was met with plenty of fanfare yesterday, Jan. 10, 2024, at PortMiami, where Royal Caribbean fans, executives and employees were on hand to welcome Miami’s newest resident. Festivities included celebratory fireboat salutes, banner planes in flight, and a community celebration at Pérez Art Museum.
Starting Jan. 27, Icon of the Seas will offer seven-night Eastern or Western Caribbean voyages from Miami featuring destinations in the region as well as a day at Royal Caribbean’s award-winning private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay in The Bahamas. Plus, this month will see the debut of the island’s first adults-only escape, Hideaway Beach, an all-day experience complete with a private beach and pools, new spots for drinks and bites, exclusive cabanas, live music and more.
While onboard Icon of the Seas, passengers will enjoy a wide array of amenities, including eight neighbourhoods to stroll through, six record-breaking waterslides at Category 6 and the Crown’s Edge experience at 154 feet above the ocean. There are also seven pools, including the first suspended infinity pool at sea, a stay-all-day neighbourhood designed for families with young kids, more than 40 restaurants, bars and lounges, a theatre and more.
Icon of the Seas opened for reservations in October 2022, marking Royal Caribbean’s single largest booking day in its 53-year history.
