CANCUN — Melia Casa Maya – Cancun – All Inclusive, with its prime location right in the heart of Cancun’s Hotel Zone, plenty of family-friendly amenities and a beautiful stretch of beach, is now officially open.
This past weekend top executives from Melia Hotels International and Grupo PROTEXA, the property’s ownership partner, joined government officials, media, trade partners and more for the grand opening celebration.
Gabriel Escarrer Jaume, President & CEO of Melia Hotels International, reaffirmed the company’s vision for Mexico in his speech, with a focus on strategic expansion, respect for local culture, sustainability and job creation.
Guests at the opening ceremony were treated to a window into the world of the ancient Mayan civilization, highlighting everything from ancestral culture’s art and architecture to its gastronomy.
The resort’s opening marks another milestone in Melia Hotels International’s expansion in Mexico, and the property is appropriately immersed in the cultural and natural richness of the Mexican Caribbean.

“It’s an intimate resort, only 260 rooms, and it’s perfect for families,” says Carpentier.
Her favourite amenities include the resort’s many terrasses overlooking the beach and pool. “There’s an amazing beach for sunbathing and swimming,” she tells Travelweek.
Her verdict on the resort’s F&B offerings? “Excellent.” Dining venues include Casa Nostra for Italian specialties, Cape Nao and the buffet-style Merkado.
Carpentier also wants travel advisors (and their clients) to know about Melia Casa Maya – Cancun’s personalized service, oversized rooms (most with views of the ocean), unlimited a la carte dining and activity program for all ages.
Last but not least? Melia Casa Maya – Cancun’s Splash Island waterpark, with water slides, Spray Park and its very own pool.
Clients should also know they can upgrade to The Level accommodations at Melia Casa Maya – Cancun, with private check-in and check-out, VIP lounge, concierge and more.
