CANCUN — Marriott Hotels is celebrating the grand opening of its newest property, Marriott Cancun, An All-Inclusive Resort.

First announced in June 2023, the former Marriott Cancun Resort, which underwent extensive renovation for its conversion, is the first Marriott-branded all-inclusive resort in the world. According to Brian King, President of Marriott International in the Caribbean and Latin America, the time is right for Marriott Hotels to enter the sector, with recent data showing that over 50% of parents are planning trips involving grandparents and children.

The resort features 450 newly redesigned guestrooms including 124 premium oceanview rooms and 38 suites with balconies. For those seeking ultimate indulgence, the two Presidential Suites feature a large balcony that overlook the beach and a beautiful terrace overlooking the Nichupte Lagoon. 

There are 13 dining options on site, serving everything from Mexican cuisine to Japanese dishes and poolside pizza. The heart of the resort is the Greatroom Lobby Bar where guests can indulge in creative cocktails. Other delicious options include HANA Polynesian Grill with its tropical breakfast buffet, Sacbé Beach Shack for Tulum-inspired cuisine, and Alice’s Tamale Ritual, which makes its rounds throughout the resort daily with its mobile food cart. 

As for activities and entertainment, there is no shortage of things to do at Marriott Cancun. An expansive water park features water slides, a lazy river, multiple pools and adults-only areas. Other top highlights include a state-of-the-art fitness centre, a sports bar with karaoke nights, an arcade area, and The Workshop (opening in fall 2024), where guests can enjoy art lessons, craft workshops and more.

For the little ones, included within the resort is the expansive, 5,000 square-foot, indoor/outdoor CAMP Club by Marriott, which keeps kids engaged all day with a variety of activity zones. The resort’s youngest guests will have a ball making slime in the Schmutz ‘slime’ zone and learning Latin dancing, crafting Kukulkan puppets. Other zones include a splatter paint cabin, a sound cabin equipped with instruments, CAMPitheater where kids can perform for family and friends, and the Turf Field zone with areas for ziplining, wall climbing and more.

Marriott Cancun, an All-Inclusive Resort is also poised to become a premier destination for events and meetings, with nearly 24,813 square feet of renovated event space. The resort’s four event rooms, including one that can accommodate up to 800 people, as well as its 12 breakout rooms are ideal for any occasion. GRAND OPENING OFFER

To celebrate its grand opening, the resort is offering an exclusive 20% discount on all bookings made between July 30 and Aug. 30, 2024, for travel from July 30, 2024 to Jan. 11, 2025. In addition to the discounted rate, guests will be treated to a US$50 resort credit valid for spa treatments at the resort’s beach cabanas.
