Here’s how you can help relief and recovery efforts in the Bahamas

TORONTO — The news reports coming in from Grand Bahama and the Abaco Islands are heartbreaking, and the images even more so.

The travel industry is known for its generosity and for pulling together in a crisis.

If you’re looking for a way to help the residents of the Bahamas impacted by Hurricane Dorian, here’s how you can help.

. The Sandals Foundation has established an urgent first responders disaster relief collection for donations. Foundation officials say 100% of all funds will go towards relief and rebuilding efforts in the Abaco Islands and Grand Bahama Island. The site is sandalsfoundation.org/donation.

. Donations for relief efforts through the Bahamas Red Cross can be made at https://bahamasredcross.org.

. The CTO has offered its full support to the Bahamas and has activated its Hurricane Relief Fund which has been established to help the region’s people and countries rebuild after disasters. While most of the Bahamas was mostly unaffected by Dorian, the northernmost islands of the Abacos have been devastated, along with Grand Bahama. . Atlantis Paradise Island is working with The Bahamas Red Cross and Chef José Andrés World Central Kitchen to provide much needed relief including food and supplies to the residents of Abaco, Grand Bahama and others in the Bahamas who were affected. Atlantis Bahamas Hurricane Dorian Relief Fund. 100% of the proceeds raised from this fund will be donated to The Bahamas Red Cross to help with the recovery efforts in the Bahamas. . Major cruise companies including Carnival Corp., Royal Carribean Cruise Lines, Disney Cruise Line and Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings have stepped up with donations of US$1 million or more each. To donate through Royal Caribbean see https://www.padf.org/hurricane-dorian-royal.
