LAS VEGAS — The Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas has scrubbed plans to remain partly open and will close completely next year for renovations and rebranding as Virgin Hotels Las Vegas.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports the hotel east of the Las Vegas Strip will shut down in February, just after Super Bowl weekend.
Plans call for reopening in late 2020.
Richard Bosworth, president and chief executive of hotel owner JC Hospitality, said in a statement that project planners determined the closure would avoid inconveniencing guests and ensure reopening before January 2021.
The Review-Journal says employees still with the company at closure will receive a retention bonus and that Bosworth says those who want to return to the Virgin Hotels property won’t have to interview again for their previous jobs.
