TORONTO — The weather didn’t play by the rules – raining out the cricket match – but there was still plenty of celebration and camaraderie yesterday as Goway and Air New Zealand met up for their popular annual get-together.
The two companies marked their renewed partnership on Aug. 30 with dinner and a party at the Toronto Cricket & Curling Club. Tourism New Zealand was also on hand to raise a glass to the enduring partnership between the travel company and the airline.
Anthony Saba, Vice President of South Pacific at Goway, says Goway and Air New Zealand have held their annual cricket match for two decades as a sign of their partnership and Goway’s commitment to showcasing all things New Zealand, including a love of cricket.
The two companies’ in-person get-together yesterday was their first since 2019. The event was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic.
Saba says yesterday’s celebration was especially significant as it signalled a return to normal for the two businesses, with Goway and Air New Zealand once again taking travellers downunder to New Zealand, Australia, and other South Pacific destinations.
Goway offers 300+ tailor-made travel packages to Australia, New Zealand, and the South Pacific, many of which include international airfare with Air New Zealand.
Says Saba: “At Goway, we pride ourselves on being North America’s top supplier to the South Pacific, which includes New Zealand. Our partnership with Air New Zealand has been integral to our ability to help globetrotters make unforgettable travel memories Downunder, so we’re thrilled that we could once again celebrate our partnership this year.
“While it’s too bad that the match itself was rained out, we dearly missed the event over the past two years. So this year was still extra special to get together in person and celebrate a love of New Zealand and all things South Pacific,” he added.
