TORONTO — Leading small-group adventure tour operator G Adventures and Merit Travel are launching a new exclusive partnership.
Effective Sept. 1, 2015, G Adventures will be the only small-group adventure travel supplier that Merit Travel will sell through its 19 retail agencies nationwide – including the Travel CUTS brand – with an exclusive sales and marketing relationship.
“We see a huge growth opportunity in the adventure travel sector and as a pioneer in the space, we strongly feel that G Adventures can help us further penetrate that market,” says Jason Merrithew, Vice President, Merit Travel Group. “As a fellow independent Canadian company, we share similar business philosophies and there are many synergies between both brands.”
“G Adventures is a niche product, and with a niche product we don’t get much airtime with all the other products, so when it comes to a mutual partnership, getting the opportunity to be focused on our product and giving us the opportunity to train Adventure Specialists is the best way for us to grow the category,” says Founder of G Adventures, Bruce Poon Tip.
G Adventures is a pioneer in adventure travel, offering a wide selection of affordable small group tours, safaris and expeditions to more than 100 countries worldwide. The trips embrace authentic accommodation, exotic cuisine and local transport to help travellers explore other cultures, landscapes and wildlife. G Adventures’ approach is to offer small-group travel that introduces travellers to the highlights of a destination while offering the freedom to explore it on their own.
“The breadth and variety of G Adventures’ tours will allow us to more effectively cater to the evolving Canadian traveller and their growing demand for culturally-immersive, adventurous experiences. In addition to being an internationally recognized adventure travel leader, G Adventures’ commitment to sustainability and supporting local communities resonates well with Merit’s values,” adds Merrithew.
Merit Travel is a privately held, owner-managed company, established in 1991 by its current shareholders, Michael Merrithew and Louise de Grandpré. For more information, visit merit.ca.
