TORONTO – All aboard! G Adventures has announced the addition of several new rail journeys to its lineup of Classic tours for 2016/2017. Destinations include such exotic locales as Bulgaria, Morocco, Spain and Russia, plus a three-day add-on option in St. Petersburg.
The new rail tours bring the small-group tour operator’s current offerings to 24 different trips that use trains as the primary mode of transport. They visit 21 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe and North America, run between 9-54 days and range in price from $899-$5,699 per person.
New journeys in the company’s 2016/2017 Classic brochure and website include:
- The 14-day ‘Spain & Morocco by Rail’, priced from $1,599 per person, travels from Madrid to Marrakech and includes a week in Spain.
- The 10-day ‘Budapest to Sofia by Rail’, priced from $1,599 per person, travels from Budapest to Sofia and includes a thermal bath in Budapest, a visit to Brasov and a bike ride through Veliko Tarnovo, one of the oldest cities in the world.
- The St. Petersburg Express, which begins in the Russian capital and ends in Moscow, is a three-day, add-on only adventure. Eligible tours that combine with this railway extension include the 16-day ‘Trans-Mongolian Adventure’ from Moscow to Beijing, and the 17-day ‘Epic Trans-Siberian Journey’ from Moscow to Vladivostok. This option is priced from US$369 per person, two people minimum.
“In the age of acceleration, slow travel is fast emerging as an antidote to the hectically paced lives that many of us lead in cities and suburbs,” says G Adventures Global Product Manager, Rachel Wasser. “Train travel invites passengers to not just relax and recharge, but to enjoy the moment in a more vintage and romantic way, taking time to truly see a landscape while someone else is doing the driving.”
G Adventures launched its rail style of travel in late 2014. In terms of sales, its two most popular Rail journeys over the past year are its 12-day ‘Beijing to Hong Kong Express’ itinerary, and the 12-day ‘West Coast India & Rajasthan by Rail’, each of which have select 2016 departures currently discounted at 15% off.
