TORONTO — Ultra low-cost carrier Frontier Airlines is launching five new routes out of Buffalo Niagara International, an airport that gets close half of its passengers from the Canadian market. Frontier doesn’t pay commission, however the airline does have a dedicated Travel Agency Resource Center, found here with more information about services and GDS participation: flyfrontier.com/travel-agents.
Some 1 million Canadians are still making the drive across the border to fly out of Buffalo each year. “There is seasonality to this number [but] on average for the entire year, we find that 45% of the originating passengers are Canadian,” said an airport spokesperson.
Frontier’s new routes from Buffalo include four Florida destinations –Fort Myers, Miami, Orlando and Tampa – and Denver. Frontier will operate the new routes with Airbus A320 aircraft. Fares start at US$39.
The Florida flights start Dec. 6 with four times weekly service to Tampa. Three times weekly flights to Fort Myers and Miami, and daily service to Orlando all start Dec. 10. The Denver flights are scheduled to start in spring 2018.
As with most ULCCs, Frontier offers its add-ons as a la carte ancillaries or as part of its WORKS bundle. “This bundle offers Frontier’s most popular options for as low as $59 each way and includes refundability, a carry-on bag, a checked bag, the best available seat, waived change fees and priority boarding,” says the airline.
