Forecasts for heavy snowfall bring travel alerts from Air Canada, WestJet, Sunwing and Porter

TORONTO — Air Canada, WestJet, Sunwing and Porter have all posted travel alerts ahead of winter storm conditions expected to impact eastern Canada later today and Ontario and Quebec today and tomorrow.

Here’s a look at what they’re saying …

AIR CANADA

Air Canada has brought in its flexible rebooking policy for passengers looking to make alternative flight arrangements for: Toronto (YYZ and YTZ), Ottawa, Montreal and Quebec City, all for March 3 – 4; and Halifax for March 3.

WESTJET 

WestJet’s flexible change/cancel guidelines are in effect for travel March 3 – 4, 2023, for flights out of southern Ontario, eastern Canada and the New York region, plus for March 3 for Halifax.

SUNWING

Ahead of the potential storm, Sunwing has posted the following update: “Select regions in Central and Atlantic Canada are expected to receive heavy snowfall beginning [March 2] and continuing into Sunday, March 4, with a total potential accumulation of 15-25 cm across Atlantic Canada, 20-25 cm across Ontario and 15-20 cm expected in Montreal. Travellers with flight departures during this period may experience delays and are encouraged to check their flight status before travelling, and should allow plenty of time to arrive at the airport. We are monitoring the weather forecast closely and will do all that we can to minimize disruptions to customers’ travel plans.”

PORTER AIRLINES

Porter has posted advisories for the following gateways, all for March 3: Toronto (YYZ and YTZ), Windsor, Moncton, Halifax and Fredericton. Flights may be eligible for complimentary changes.
