TORONTO — The travel industry is spreading the love on Valentine’s Day with deals, discounts and one special charitable donation.
Here’s a roundup of some of the offers out there for Feb. 14 and beyond:
SWOOP
Swoop is offering email subscribers 14% off base-fares on all routes, with no blackout dates. The 14% off promo code is applicable on base fares, for travel between June 20 and Dec. 13, 2018, and expires on Feb. 16, 11:59 p.m. MT.
Plus, today and tomorrow, while supplies last, Swoop is offering 140 seats on flights from Abbotsford to Edmonton for $14 total, including base fare and applicable taxes and fees. Swoop’s Abbotsford-Edmonton service starts July 25 with three-times daily flights.
“When we announced our initial network on Feb. 1, our promotional fares flew off the shelf in a matter of hours,” says Bob Cummings, WestJet Executive Vice-President and the executive member responsible for Swoop. “We’re spreading a little more love today with 140 seats for $14 (one-way) and some fun social contests for all the lovers and lonely hearts out there.”
AIR CANADA
Air Canada’s Valentine’s Day seat sale applies to domestic, U.S., international and sun destinations. The sale wraps up today, Feb. 14.

Club Med’s flash sale, on now through Feb. 15, comes with a free room upgrade at five resorts in the Caribbean, using the promo code VDAY18:

AIR TRANSAT
From midnight to 11:59 p.m. on Feb.14 Air Transat will donate $1 for every like, comment or share on its Facebook and Instagram pages, up to $10,000.
“Air Transat is celebrating Valentine’s Day in a special way this year, by helping kids in Canada and around the world with a sweet gesture through its Small Change, Big Hearts program,” says the airline.
Now in its 15th year, Small Change, Big Hearts aims to collect small change, in any currency, from passengers aboard its aircraft, to donate to SOS Children’s Villages and the Children’s Wish Foundation.
“As a tourism company, giving back to communities has always been a given for Transat,” says Annick Guérard, Chief Operating Officer at Transat. “That was the incentive behind Small Change, Big Hearts, an initiative that allows us to offer constant support to two organizations that are near and dear to our heart and that make a real difference in the lives of thousands of children every year. And we’re happy to say that we have accomplished our mission, since Transat has donated more than six million dollars to both charities since the creation of this program in 2004.”
Starting last fall clients who purchase a Transat package can also contribute to Small Change, Big Hearts by donating $1, $2 or $5 when booking online, by phone or through a travel agent.
