MONTREAL — Club Med is offering a look at its new Aguamarina expansion opening this summer at Club Med Cancun Yucatan.

This is the newest expansion of property – which has been undergoing renovations since 2017 – and a big family-focused addition for the resort.

The new Aguamarina extension will introduce 60 new additional family rooms including 30 new oceanfront Family Club Rooms and 30 new oceanfront Family Deluxe Rooms. There will also be a brand new pool dedicated to families plus a brand new bar, ‘La Marina’.

Travelweek was on-site in fall 2017 to see earlier renovations at the Cancun Yucatan property earlier this month.

Renovations at that time included the Las Velas bar, outdoor theatre and main pool area. The redesigned Tacos Arte beach lounge restaurant offers Mexican culinary specialties in a trendy, open-concept space designed to make guests feel like they’re in a Mexican marketplace. The Jade 5 Trident luxury space was also renovated including its private lobby, pool and bar. All 58 rooms were updated, including 15 suites and three family suites.

The 60 additional Aguamarina family rooms are slated to open in summer 2018, along with a new pool and bar available to all guests at the resort.
