Loggerhead Marinelife Center
Located in Juno Beach, this centre educates the public about ocean ecosystems through engaging programming and also rehabilitates sea turtles for release back into the wild. Featuring a recent US$20 million expansion, the centre includes a hospital, educational exhibits, classrooms, research labs and a beach where families can soak up the sun pre- or post-visit.
Rapids Water Park
South Florida’s largest water park, located in Riviera Beach, is packed with thrills that include a lazy river, wave pool, dual seven-storey speed slides and an action park for young children and toddlers. In total, families can enjoy 42 suitable rides and attractions for all ages.
Snorkel Trail at Phil Foster Park
Also in Riviera Beach, this park offers a variety of marine life and hours of snorkelling fun along an 800-foot stretch of boulders and an artificial reef. The Snorkel Trail hosts sea turtles, tropical fish, sailfish, goliath groupers and dolphins, with frequent manatee sightings in the winter and spring and year round sightings of sea turtles.
Lion Country Safari
Florida’s largest drive-through safari, located in Loxahatchee, is home to 900 animals roaming in wide-open habitats. Families can spot rhinos, giraffes, zebras and more through the four-mile drive safari space. Other attractions include an adventure park, water park, gift shops, a petting zoo and amusement rides.
Sugar Sand Park
This 132-acre park in Boca Raton offers plenty of family fun thanks to its Children’s Science Explorium, Willow Theatre and community centre. Families can view a wide range of art exhibits, enjoy a picnic under a shaded villa, and take a spin on a 30-horse chariot carousel that’s also wheelchair accessible.
Cox Science Center & Aquarium
Located in West Palm Beach, this recently-renovated attraction now boasts 100 new hands-on exhibits, an upgraded planetarium, a 1,000 square-foot early childhood exhibit, a modernized theatre, science lab, open-air amphitheatre and an 18-hole miniature golf course.
