GENEVA — Explora Journeys has provided a sneak peek of new Ocean Terrace Suites on its first ship, EXPLORA I, ahead of its grand debut in May 2023.
As the lead in category, Ocean Terrace Suites span 377 square feet and have been dubbed ‘Homes at Sea’ for their vibrant design and modern European craftsmanship. Along with the 420 square-foot Ocean Grand Terrace Suites, they are among the largest rooms in the industry, featuring private terraces that range from 75 to 118 square feet.
Elevating the suites to a luxurious home, each ‘Home at Sea’ comprises a walk-in wardrobe with a seated vanity area, heated floors in the bathrooms, personal binoculars, wireless bedside charging, a personal minibar that’s replenished according to the guests’ preferences, an espresso machine with biodegradable pods, a kettle and teapot, and a complimentary personal refillable water bottle for each guest. All guests also benefit from 24-hour guest services.
In addition to Ocean Terrace Suites and Ocean Grand Terrace Suites, EXPLORA I also offers Owners Residences that span 3,014 square feet. In total, there are 461 oceanfront suites, penthouses and residences, each featuring their own spacious private terrace, floor-to-ceiling windows and a neutral colour palette. Explora Journeys’ commitment to sustainability is also reflected in the ship’s responsible sourcing of materials, refillable bathroom amenities and no single-use plastic onboard policy.
“The Homes at Sea have been a long-held vision of the [founding] Aponte Vago family. It is a truly exciting and profound moment for us to be able to welcome future guests to the carefully curated suites penthouses and residences,” said Michael Ungerer, Chief Executive Officer, Explora Journeys. “Marrying the family’s impeccable taste and innate understanding of luxury, inspired by their personal travels and style, the interiors of EXPLORA I have been designed with their enduring dedication and incredible eye for detail, along with their vision for the future, weaving a thread of their passion throughout each touchpoint.”
Sales are now open for the Inaugural Journeys Collection for EXPLORA I from May 2023. In its first year, the ship will visit 132 ports in 40 different countries including two destinations – Kastellorizo, Greece and Saint Pierre, Martinique – that have rarely been visited by cruise ships before. The itineraries include the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, the UK, Iceland, Greenland, Canada, the U.S. East Coast, Caribbean, South America and Hawaii. Sailings start from six-night journeys and culminate in a 44-night Northern Europe and Grand Journey.
