PHOENIX — Arizona found itself melting under the burning sun last month during an extreme heatwave that saw temperatures soar to 48.8C. How hot is 48.8C, you ask? Hot enough to bake a batch of cookies on the dashboard of your car, apparently.
Photos of various melting objects have popped up on social media by locals who claim are the result of record temps. Wilting cacti, bleeding street signs, and eggs cooking on the sidewalk were all run-of-the-mill occurrences in affected cities.
