TORONTO — Ethiopian Airlines marked its fifth anniversary in the Canadian market with a celebration at Toronto’s Thompson Hotel. After five years of flying direct from Toronto to Addis Ababa, Ethiopian Airlines will be increasing flight frequencies from three to five weekly flights starting Nov. 1.
In the last year Ethiopian Airlines has seen load factors go from 70% on average to close to 95 – 100%. Ed Radonic, of RadonicRodgers Stategy, representing Ethiopian Airlines, says the carrier is the only airline in Canada offering direct flights to Africa and servicing over 50 destinations in Africa, so within hours of landing in Addis Ababa clients can be on their way to one of many other gateways.
“This is a great option for anyone wanting to explore Ethiopia for a few days, and then continuing on their journey elsewhere that Ethiopian Airlines flies,” said Radonic.
Ethiopian Airlines is negotiating options with Montreal and it also has a codeshare agreement with Air Canada on its Addis Ababa-Toronto flight.
Ethiopian Airlines celebrated 70 years in business in 2016 and won ‘Best Airline in Africa’ at the SKYTRAX World Airline awards in June 2017.
