TORONTO — There’s nothing wrong with a bit of friendly competition, especially when a trip Down Under is on the line.
Tourism Australia has launched a competition for qualified Aussie Specialists to become an ‘Australian Ambassador’. If selected, they will join a tailor-made trip to Australia and share their travel experiences with other international travel sellers.
According to Tourism Australia Managing Director John O’Sullivan, frontline travel sellers are a critical part of the travel distribution system, and the new Aussie Specialist Ambassador initiative was all about peer-to-peer advocacy.
“We want the Aussie Specialist Ambassador to come Down Under, have a fantastic time experiencing our world-class tourism products and share their enthusiasm and insights with other travel sellers in their home market,” he said. “We hope content created by the Ambassador will help other Aussie Specialists improve their product knowledge, encourage more frontline travel sellers to sign up to the program and ultimately help more people book fantastic Australian holidays.”
Applications for frontline travel sellers from Canada are open from Oct. 25 to Jan. 7. The winning ambassador will be announced in early 2019.
Jane Whitehead, Tourism Australia’s Vice President for the Americas, encourages travel advisors in Canada to become Aussie Specialists.
“By becoming a member of the Aussie Specialist Program advisors gain access to bespoke training modules and sales resources, travel offers from Australian operators, invitations to attend exclusive Australia events and regular product updates and training webinars,” she said.
