TORONTO — Intrepid Travel is rallying the travel industry to join the 2024 Buffalo Bicycle Ride in support ofWorld Bicycle Relief.
The global charity fundraiser aims to provide low-income, rural communities with cost-effective, specially-designed rugged bikes, also known as ‘Buffalo bikes.’ These bikes are built to serve the needs of people who travel long distances over rugged terrain with heavy cargo but can be repaired simply, even in remote areas.
Put it more simply, the bikes, which cost only $215 each, have the power to break the cycle of poverty.
To support the cause, Intrepid has registered 10 teams across seven countries to participate in the upcoming Buffalo Bicycle Ride, which takes place Sunday, June 2, 2024. In total, 23 global teams will be riding.
So far, over $40,900 has been raised, just $4,500 shy of the global fundraising goal.

Intrepid covers 100% of the administrative costs, so every dollar donated to World Bicycle Relief will go directly to the cause.
Plus, when participants raise $215, they will be entered into a draw to win an Intrepid Cycling tour valued at up to $3,100.
Intrepid teams will be riding around the world, through the streets and parks of Valencia, Spain; London, England; Toronto, ON; and through Karura Forest Reserve in Kenya. As for unique routes, the ‘Roadies 130’ team, run by Chris Grabyn, will be doing an advanced 130-kilometre route in the Macedon Ranges. To see details including the map and routing, click here.
