Dogs & cats can earn rewards, fly free with this pet-friendly airline

TORONTO — Imagine a world where a dog flies for free and a cat is rewarded for being a frequent flier. Well, thanks to Korean Air, the dream of free frequent flying for pets has become every bit the reality.

The airline has introduced SKYPETS, a frequent flyer program just for pets, where free flights and discounts can be earned. With the program, every paid one-way flight with your pet will earn stamps that can be redeemed for free future pet flights or discounts.

Every one-way domestic flight in Korea with a pet will earn one stamp, whereas any one-way international flight will earn two stamps.

Six stamps can be redeemed for a 50% discount on the charge for a one-way domestic flight with the pet.

12 stamps are needed to be exchanged for all pet fees on a domestic flight, or a 50% discount on the fees for an international flight when travelling with pets.

When a passenger accumulates 24 stamps, they can exchange for a one-way ticket on international routes.

Stamps are earned when travelling on flights operated by Korean Air and are valid for three years.

The newly-launched Korean Air SKYPETS program is designed to make travelling with pets as stress free and simple as possible.  Pet bookings and requests are simply added to the passenger’s itinerary after registering the pet on Korean Air’s website. Dogs, cats and birds can travel with Korean Air either in the cabin or in the luggage hold, depending on their weight and size.
