Oral Chambers and Sedrecia Francis

Jamaica Tourist Board welcomes two members to Canada team

TORONTO — Two members from the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) have made the move to Canada to join the organization’s Toronto office.

Oral Chambers, previously from the USA office, and Sedrecia Francis from Jamaica have both been appointed Business Development Officers, now based in Toronto.

Chambers, who joined JTB in October 2016, was previously tasked with providing business development management to enhance Jamaica as a premier tourist destination for clients and customers in the United States. In his new role, he will continue to provide these services in Canada in addition to taking on Eastern, Northern and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) East territories.

Said Chambers: “I am excited to lend my experience and expertise to our Canadian team and our operation there. This is an opportunity to ensure Canadians consider Jamaica as the premier destination to visit for their vacations.”

Francis, who joined JTB in January 2016, most recently served as Media Relations Officer in the Public Relations and Communications Unit in the corporate office in Kingston, Jamaica. In that role, she was responsible for showcasing the island’s tourism offerings to visiting groups mainly through managing media trips. In her new role as Business Development Officer in JTB’s Canadian operation, Francis will be responsible for Western Canada.

Saying she’s “ecstatic” to support the team in Canada, Francis added: “From my work in my most recent role in the Jamaica office, I can tell you first-hand that Jamaica is a craveable destination for many visitors looking for a unique and unparalleled experience with sun, sand, sea and the tranquility as well as the energetic vibe – there’s something for everyone.”

Angella Bennett, Regional Director at the Jamaica Tourist Board Canada, said the team is thrilled to welcome both Chambers and Francis.

“Oral’s strong work ethic, which is matched by his positive and approachable personality, have made him a respected and sought-after member of our team. And Sedrecia has demonstrated dedication and competence in her previous role, and we are equally confident that she will excel in her new role and this next chapter in her career,” said Bennett.
