EDINBURGH — Data gathered by Skyscanner suggests that just about half of Canadian travellers (47%) will start planning and booking their vacations for 2025 in January.
Independent research for the OTA was conducted in November 2024 through a survey of 1,000 Canadian adults.
As Skyscanner notes, “the desire to choose the perfect destination leaves a staggering 86% of people stuck in decision paralysis, with cost (95%) also a major factor.”
According to the data, Canadians also admit to spending more time planning a vacation (65%) than they do making a major life decision, such as choosing where to live (56%).
“In fact, 86% of Canadians admit that overthinking vacation planning delays their decision and could see them missing out entirely on January deals,” says the travel booking app.
A further 65% of Canadians also claim to take between one and six months to finalize their trips.
The OTA’s list of cost-effective destinations from Canada for 2025 includes Fort Myers, St. John’s, Turin, Boston, Montreal, Montego Bay, Berlin, San Jose, Ponta Delgada and Madrid.
