NEW YORK — Croatia’s record-breaking numbers for 2024 included more than 21.3 million arrivals and 108.7 million overnight stays.
The tourism board is looking to build on last year’s success by focusing on year-round travel, sustainability, and promoting inland destinations for 2025.
From January to May 2024, arrivals increased by 11%, and overnight stays increased by 12.5%. The October to December period posted double-digit growth, with arrivals up by 10.3% and overnight stays rising by 9.7%. As the tourism board notes, Croatia’s growth is no longer confined to the summer months.
As Croatia makes gains as a four-season destination, efforts are also underway to expand tourism to lesser-known inland regions.
Dubrovnik, Rovinj, and Split remain Croatia’s most-visited destinations, however initiatives like the Impresia Hotels Collection are helping to spread the tourism wealth. The newly branded group of 17 boutique properties offering immersive cultural experiences spans Pula to Zagreb and Zadar to Dubrovnik.
Croatia’s signature events meanwhile include Opatija’s Chocolate Festival and Rijeka Carnival in the Kvarner region. The region has been named the 2026 European Region of Gastronomy.
For lift out of North America, United Airlines recently announced an expansion of its direct flights between Newark/New York and Dubrovnik, extending its service through late October.
