Riverside Luxury Cruises waives single supplement

DENVER — Riverside Luxury Cruises is tapping into the growing trend of solo travel, which has gained popularity among everyone from Gen Z to retirees seeking independent exploration.

A recent study by travel provider Road Scholar found that 85% of their solo travellers are women, with 60% of them married but choosing to embark on independent journeys. Riverside is responding to this demand by offering solo travellers the chance to explore Europe’s most captivating destinations without the burden of a single supplement, making river cruising more accessible and affordable for those travelling alone.

“We recognise that solo travel is an important and growing trend, and we at Riverside are committed to creating a welcoming and comfortable environment for all our guests,” said Jennifer Halboth, CEO of Riverside Collection Americas. “By waiving the single supplement on select suites across our entire fleet, we aim to make river cruising more accessible to solo travellers, including women who are looking to explore Europe independently. Whether travelling alone or with a group of friends, we want to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy the unique experience of river cruising on their own terms.”

Riverside’s intimate ships foster a sense of community, making them an ideal setting for solo travellers. The relaxed atmosphere encourages easy interaction with fellow guests, presenting opportunities to form new friendships and share unforgettable experiences. The two-to-one guest-to-crew ratio ensures that solo travellers receive personalised attention, and the all-inclusive fares remove the worry of unexpected expenses.

Popular itineraries for solo travellers include the Danube Medley, which stops in three major European capital cities: Vienna, Bratislava and Budapest. This journey includes three days in Budapest, a vibrant and walkable city where solo travellers can enjoy the famous baths or explore the nightlife.

In France, the Rhone Rhapsody sailing is perfect for food lovers, with a visit to Lyon’s gourmet mecca, Les Halles and a stop in the renowned wine region of Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Avignon, a historic city, offers solo travellers the chance to wander, shop and indulge in local delicacies. Lastly, the Romantic Rhine Northbound itinerary, with stops in Switzerland, Germany and the Netherlands, promises breathtaking scenery, best enjoyed from the top deck of a luxurious river ship.

Riverside’s single supplement waiver applies to select Harmony Suites on the 162-guest Riverside Mozart, cruising the Danube River, and Melody Suites on the 110-guest Riverside Debussy and Riverside Ravel, which sail the Rhine, Main, Moselle, Danube, Rhône and Saône rivers. The waiver is subject to availability, with limited quantities, so solo travellers are encouraged to book early.
