VENICE — Regent Seven Seas Cruises is celebrating a major milestone in the construction of its next generation ship, Seven Seas Prestige.
The ultra-luxury cruise line marked the ship’s keel laying last week at the Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera, Italy, with top executives in attendance.
Said Jason Montague, Chief Luxury Officer: “Seven Seas Prestige represents our continued legacy of elevating the standard of ultra-luxury travel and we are proud to cement our place as leaders in the industry with this exciting milestone. Expertise, passion and dedication to perfection are shared values between Regent and Fincantieri, and there is no one better placed to bring Seven Seas Prestige to life as we usher in a new age of excellence for Regent Seven Seas Cruises.”
As part of a longstanding maritime tradition, three specially selected coins were welded onto the keel of the ship. Dating from the ancient Greeks and Romans, the tradition will see the coins forever embedded into the ship’s structure, bringing luck to all who sail on board.
Set to be delivered in 2026, Seven Seas Prestige follows the huge success of Regent’s Explorer-Class vessels and will be Regent’s first new ship class in 10 years.
