Princess launches 2025 Alaska season with expanded offerings

LAUDERDALE — Princess Cruises is set to begin its 2025 Alaska season in May, deploying seven ships, five wilderness lodges and an expanded line-up of cruisetours.

Departures will be available from five ports: Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Vancouver, B.C., and Anchorage (Whittier).

“This summer, as we start into our 56th season, we’re continuing to operate to the highly desired national parks of Alaska through our long-standing partnerships. From Glacier Bay to the Kenai Fjords, Denali and beyond, we give our guests the experiences they want when visiting Alaska,” said Gus Antorcha, president of Princess Cruises.

Several 2025 sailings are still available for booking, including:

  • Coral Princess – 11-day roundtrip from Vancouver, departing May 3
  • Grand Princess – 7-day roundtrip from Vancouver, departing June 24
  • Discovery Princess – 7-day roundtrip from Seattle, departing Aug. 17, hosted by wildlife biologist Jeff Corwin, who will lead shore excursions and onboard presentations
  • Ruby Princess – 11-day roundtrip from San Francisco, departing Aug. 22

NEW ITINERARIES

New itineraries in 2025 include:

  • Grand Princess: A 17-day roundtrip sailing from Seattle visiting 10 ports and three glaciers – Hubbard Glacier, College Fjord and Glacier Bay National Park (May 6).
  • Ruby Princess: A 22-day roundtrip sailing from San Francisco aligned with the Summer Solstice, visiting 11 ports and four glaciers – Endicott Arm & Dawes Glacier, Hubbard Glacier, College Fjord and Glacier Bay National Park (June 6).

VOYAGE OF THE GLACIERS

Voyage of the Glaciers sailings range from 7 to 14 days and travel between Vancouver, B.C. and Anchorage (Whittier), with calls at Skagway, Ketchikan and Juneau. Coral Princess, Caribbean Princess and Sapphire Princess will visit glaciers such as Glacier Bay and Hubbard Glacier. These cruises can be combined with land-based cruisetours to Denali National Park.

INSIDE PASSAGE VOYAGES

Inside Passage itineraries include:

  • Seattle: 7-day roundtrip voyages on Royal Princess (Glacier Bay) and Discovery Princess (Endicott Arm & Dawes Glacier), calling at Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway and Victoria, B.C.
  • San Francisco: 11-day roundtrip voyages on Ruby Princess, with calls at Glacier Bay or Endicott Arm & Dawes Glacier, as well as Ketchikan, Juneau and either Skagway or Haines, and Victoria or Prince Rupert.
  • Vancouver: 5- to 11-day roundtrip sailings on Grand Princess, Coral Princess and Caribbean Princess, with stops including Icy Strait Point and Sitka.

CRUISETOURS

Princess Cruises’ 2025 cruisetour programme has also been expanded, offering 9- to 15-day itineraries that include visits to three to five national parks such as Glacier Bay, Denali, Wrangell St. Elias, Kenai Fjords and Katmai. The tours combine a seven-day “Voyage of the Glaciers” cruise with rail travel and land stays at Princess wilderness lodges. The Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge will debut a renovated grand lobby, while the Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge adds a new coffee trailer.

ONBOARD EXPERIENCES

Onboard experiences in 2025 continue to feature the award-winning “North to Alaska” programme, with offerings that include:

  • Glacier Bay Experience: Park Rangers onboard offering commentary, educational programming and activities for all ages.
  • Storytelling and Speakers: Guest appearances by personalities such as Patrick Anderson, Libby Riddles and Nick Jans.
  • Campfire Movies Under the Stars: Families gather under cozy blankets with “fire pits” and popcorn to watch family classics and Alaska-themed movies.
  • Northern Lights Lounge: This new nightly pop-up pub features a resident folk and country guitar vocalist. Adults can enjoy local beers and liquors, while kids can enjoy hot cocoa, popcorn and cookies with pub-style trivia between sets.
  • Stargarzing: On deck, guests join a guided presentation about the constellations. Indoor virtual stargazing is also available with a special presentation and video.
  • Youth and Teen Centers: Special Alaska-themed activities including Glacier Bay Junior Rangers and the Great Alaskan Fishermen’s Race.
  • “The Great Big Adventure – Alaska Edition”: An interactive game show experience with survival-themed challenges.
  • Puppies in the Piazza: Guests learn about sled dogs from an expert dog handler while watching real-life sled-dog puppies interact together.

ONBOARD DINING

Culinary offerings highlight Alaskan seafood and local ingredients across multiple venues, including specialty restaurants and casual dining. Highlights include:

  • Balcony Breakfasts with smoked salmon and crab quiche
  • “Cook My Catch” option aboard Discovery Princess
  • Locally Sourced Seafood in Crown Grill, Sabatini’s Trattoria, and Crab Shack
  • Themed Cocktails and locally brewed beer and spirits from Anchorage Distillery and Denali Spirits
