MONTREAL — It’s been almost five years since Princess Cruises was represented in Quebec.
Until recently the Strategic Account Director in Quebec for Royal Caribbean, Kathelyn ‘Kat’ Vézina has recently been named the Business Development Director for Princess Cruises in Quebec & the Maritimes.
“My decision was made very quickly,” she says in an interview. “I spent almost two years at Royal Caribbean, where I had great discoveries and a lot of learning. But everyone knows this cruise company well in Quebec, and since I have a bit of an entrepreneurial side, I saw this as a great opportunity to put that to use.”
Vézina, who also previously worked for a company that supplies equipment for water parks, says she is very happy to remain in this element. “I am a water person, I love being surrounded by water, it’s a stimulating medium that allows me to experience accessibility and inclusivity,” she says.
INCREASING DEMAND
For Vézina, it was the constant rise in demand that led Princess Cruises to reconnect with the Quebec market.
“Princess Cruises is the leading cruise company when it comes to destinations, and Quebecers are destination people,” she says.
They will also be able to see Princess Cruises’ ships firsthand as some of them will sail on the Saguenay and the St. Lawrence River during the year.
This will also be the case for some stops in the Maritime provinces, which are also part of Vézina’s territory.
ON THE JOB TRAINING
Currently in training, Vézina is studying Princess Cruises’ DNA – and she’s eager to hit the road to put her new knowledge to use.
“I have a very ambitious plan: first, I want to be well-trained, then I will stay on a Princess ship in Alaska this spring to truly ‘experience the product,’” she says. “After that, I plan to use all the tools at my disposal to promote Princess Cruises, from events to educational tours, webinars, and social media.”
With this in mind, Vézina will soon update her professional pages (like her Facebook page) to reflect the colours of Princess Cruises.
