HALIFAX – The Port of Halifax welcomed a larger number of cruise ships and passengers this year when compared with last season.
The Halifax Port Authority says 141 vessel stops delivered 222,309 passengers from April 27 to Nov. 2.
Last year, vessels made 134 visits to the port carrying 217,305 passengers between May 6 and Nov. 15.
The authority says the biggest passenger day was Oct. 16, with about 10,000 people arriving.
A recent study from the Port of Halifax found cruise ships contribute more than $100 million annually to the local economy through tourism spending.
