TORONTO — Contiki has added two new destinations for Africa-bound clients: Namibia and Botswana.
Part of its Africa 2020-21 program, the two new itineraries feature unique treehouse and private safari camp accommodations, additional departure dates, and new local and community experiences in a small group setting (no more than 30 guests aged 18-35). Included and optional experiences include visits to a new Protrack Anti-poaching Centre (including a donation to the Centre) near Kruger, Ju/’Hoansi Living Museum Indigenous Village in Namibia, a Township tour & school visit in Cape Town, and a Magic Beans community youth theatre dinner & show in Botswana.
“Our Africa product has been in incredibly high demand since it launched, and we’re excited to be able to offer more of Africa to clients than ever before, now that we’ve expanded through Namibia and Botswana,” says Sheralyn Berry, President of Contiki Canada. “We can’t wait for young travellers to experience the new adventures for themselves. The new destinations, addition of ‘Special Stay’ accommodation like the treehouses and Contiki-only Safari camps and new handpicked ethical experiences that give back to the local communities through Contiki Cares, powered by TreadRight, all add to the exclusive experiences clients can have in Africa with Contiki.”
Tailored to Africa, transportation on all Africa product is included, from internal flights to open-top safari vehicles and 4×4 for cruising the salt flats. And as with all Contiki trips, Trip Managers and Local Guides for game drives are also included, as are porters on trips like the Gorilla Trek and Kili Climb.
The three new itineraries are:
• Okavango Delta and Deserts: This 13-day adventure starts in Kasane, Botswana after which guests will traverse the Makgadikgadi Salt Pan in 4×4 jeeps, visit a wild meerkat colony and spend 2 days in the Okavango Delta. Also included are a special night game drive, a campfire dinner under the stars, a visit to Namibia’s tallest dune and a stop at Sossusvlei.
• Southern Africa Safari: From Cape Town to Windhoek, clients will spend 23 days travelling through Zimbabwe Botswana and Namibia on an itinerary that includes game drives in Kruger and Chobe National Parks, the Okavango Delta, Table Mountain, the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans and Victoria Falls.
• Cape Town Explorer: On this three-day unescorted itinerary, guests will stay in a seafront hotel and receive a hop-on hop-off bus pass that will allow them to explore the ‘Mother City’ at their leisure.
The new Africa itineraries join the ranks of eight existing itineraries offered by Contiki in Africa. For full itineraries and pricing, go to https://www.contiki.com/destinations/africa.
