TORONTO — For the twelfth consecutive year, Canada’s largest hotel – Chelsea Hotel, Toronto – will participate in Earth Hour to raise awareness of global climate change.
Taking place on March 30, Earth Hour at the hotel will include turning off exterior signage and all non-essential lighting, serving featured cocktails in T|bar, and a complimentary LED 8w A19 household-style bulb, courtesy of Sunray Electronics/Lighting Systems and Technical Consumer Products, for the first 500 guests.
In addition to Earth Hour, Chelsea Hotel, Toronto will celebrate an entire ‘Loving Earth Month’ leading up to Earth Day on April 22. Throughout the month, it will offer more vegetarian menu options on ‘Meatless Monday’ as a means to reduce the carbon footprint, serve two ecologically-sound cocktails in partnership with Rise Kombucha, and encourage guests to participate in the 30-day ‘SpartanFit Corporate Challenge’, which includes the Five Pillars of Health (Exercise, Nutrition, Mindfulness, Water and Steps).
To celebrate Earth Day, hotel colleagues will also join the Downtown Yonge BIA for the ‘Clean Toronto Together Day’.
All this is in line with Chelsea Hotel, Toronto’s ongoing efforts to be environmentally responsible through EarthCheck, an environmental management program for the travel and tourism industry that provides organizations a vehicle for sustainability reporting. The hotel’s goal is to continue to deliver a clean, safe and healthy destination for travellers.
For the third year, Chelsea Hotel, Toronto has been awarded EarthCheck’s Silver Certified status.
