NEW YORK — Have you ever opened a bag of Cheetos and pulled out a cheesy nugget that looked a bit like Elvis Presley? If so, that delicious cornmeal knob may be good enough to make it into the new Cheetos Museum Exhibit at Times Square Ripley’s Believe It or Not!
To kick off the hunt for the next priceless Cheetos shape, Cheetos – one of the flagship brands from PepsiCo’s Frito-Lay division – and Ripley’s Believe It or Not! have teamed up to launch the new immersive exhibit in the heart of New York City. The mirror-lined infinity room features more than 128,900 Cheetos in varying shapes that resemble everything from a flamingo to a mullet hairstyle.
And just prior to the exhibit’s launch, Cheetos debuted its latest flavor: Flamin’ Hot Chipotle Ranch. Sounds fiery!
Fans of the popular cheesy cornmeal snack are asked to submit their own Cheetos shapes in various categories. From now through Aug. 6, they can submit a photo and the story of their one-of-a-kind nugget at CheetosMuseum.com, or submit through Instagram and Twitter using the hashtag #CheetosMuseum #Contest.
Submissions will be judged weekly based on the creativity of the description, and how closely the shape resembles that description. Two weekly winners, one in the Cheesy and Flamin’ Hot categories, will be awarded US$5,000 each, totaling $100,000 in prize money awarded.
In August, the company will then ask the public to vote for the grand prize winner. The winner in each category will go head-to-head in the ultimate Cheetos showdown. The winner will receive an additional $50,000 grand prize and have his/her shape displayed at the Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Odditorium’s collection.
Now if that’s not a good enough reason to snack, we don’t know what is. Happy snacking, Cheetos lovers!
