Celestyal starts 4th season in Cuba while Carnival Corp. eyes May 2017 expiry for Cuba license

HAVANA — Celestyal Cruises has embarked on its fourth year of operations in Cuba. “After three successful seasons, Celestyal now sails to Cuba year-round, providing Canadian, American and international guests the unique opportunity to enjoy UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Sites, delicious Cuban cuisine and matchless Cuban hospitality on board and ashore,” says the company.

Celestyal’s all-inclusive cruises include two days in Havana, with additional calls at Cienfuegos and Santiago de Cuba. A circumnavigation of the island means passengers visit both the iconic ports and the harder to reach hidden gems. Guided shore excursions are included in the price of the cruise.

The cruise embarks every Monday from Havana, and every Friday from Montego Bay, Jamaica. More information is at cuba.celestyalcruises.com.

In other Cuba cruise news, Carnival Corp. CEO Arnold Donald told agents at a recent cruise industry conference that his company’s permission to sail to Cuba is due to expire in May 2017. “Nobody has approval, including us, for sailing to Cuba past May,” said Donald, as reported in Travel Weekly.
