LAS VEGAS _ The Culinary and Bartenders unions in Las Vegas say they’ve scheduled negotiations that could avert a strike planned for next month.
Union officials say eight of the nine casinos locked in a labour dispute have agreed to talks before workers are set to walk off the job June 1.
Negotiations have not been scheduled at the Golden Gate casino. But the union plans to discuss a contract with officials at The D, Four Queens, Fremont, Main Street Station, El Cortez, Binion’s, The Plaza, and Las Vegas Club.
Union spokeswoman Bethany Khan says there are 2,000 union employees at the nine casinos. Contracts at the casinos expired June 1, 2013.
The Golden Nugget casino downtown reached a five-year agreement with the union last month.
