TORONTO — Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line is hosting three road show events in Canada this October, to keep the Canadian trade up to date on the cruise line’s product offering and sailings post-Dorian.
Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line announced on Friday that it had cancelled more sailings – Sept. 21, 23 and 25 – as it works to help the Bahamas get back on its feet after Hurricane Dorian devastated the Abaco islands and Grand Bahama.
Last week the company announced cancelled departures for its Sept. 13, 15, 17 and 19 sailings.
Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line deployed one of its ships, Grand Celebration, on two post-Hurricane Dorian humanitarian sailings to Grand Bahama.
“As the first cruise line to dock in Freeport after the storm, we collectively – along with our partners and more than 600 first responders and volunteers – delivered more than 700,000 pounds of critical supplies,” says a statement from the company.
In addition to delivering supplies, the team is also helping rebuild homes, a children’s orphanage and a fire station.
“We are proud of our efforts these past two weeks and deeply appreciative of the efforts of our partners and volunteers. Today, we’ve announced that we are canceling our September 21, 23, and 25 sailings. We are working closely with the Bahamian government and our partners to determine the best course of action, mapping out how we can continue to help our neighbors on Grand Bahama Island while also identifying the best time to return with guests, ensuring the island is ready to accept leisure travellers.”
Oneil Khosa, CEO of Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line, says the company remains open for future bookings and will protect travel agent commissions.
“We are committed to returning to Grand Bahama Island as soon as we can,” he said, adding: “We are proud to have played such a vital role in the recovery of Grand Bahama Island after successfully delivering aid to thousands of Bahamians in need following Hurricane Dorian. “Grand Bahama is our second home, and we are committed to helping our Bahamian brothers and sisters during this time of need. Tourism is a lifeline for the island, and we look forward to returning to our traditional sailing schedule as soon as possible so that we can bring resources, and hope, to the island.”
The Canadian road show will kick off in Vancouver on Oct. 1 with a breakfast at the Marriott Pinacle Downtown. On Oct. 2 it arrives in Toronto at the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel for a dinner event. And in Oct. 3 it will be in Montreal at Le Centre Sheraton Montreal Hotel, again for a dinner.
Registration deadline is Sept. 27. Space is limited and a cruise for two will be given away at each event. See https://myemail.constantcontact.com/Get-to-Know-Bahamas-Paradise-Cruise-Line.html?soid=1114539386883&aid=NQBJDiY5_00 for details.
