TORONTO — After postponing its launch date earlier this month, Canada Jetlines has announced that it has received approval from Transport Canada to initiate operations out of Toronto.
The new, all-Canadian leisure airline received its air operating certificate (AOC) from Transport Canada this week, which confirms that it has met all required professional capabilities and adheres to all safety regulations needed for aircraft operations.
Canada Jetlines’ launch date is scheduled for Aug. 29, 2022, which was pushed back from Aug. 15, 2022 as the airline continued to work towards securing its AOC.
“The entire team at Canada Jetlines is thrilled to obtain our AOC after meeting all necessary operation standards and passing all inspections,” said Eddy Doyle, CEO of Canada Jetlines. “We thank Transport Canada and greatly appreciate the tireless effort and diligence they undertake to approve new airlines. We excitedly look forward to our launch date, meeting the increased demand for convenient leisure travel in Canada and beyond and to provide more options to explore the world.”
The airline’s inaugural flights will depart Toronto Pearson International Airport on Aug. 29 to Winnipeg and Moncton. New destinations and updated scheduling will be released shortly.
At the unveiling of Canada Jetlines’ first A320 in March 2022, Duncan Bureau, Canada Jetlines’ Chief Commercial Officer, said the carrier is very focused on its relationship with the travel trade, including travel advisors.
