TORONTO — Canada Jetlines has tapped Fareportal’s OTAs as its first online travel agencies.
Scheduled to launch this July from its Toronto hub, the startup airline has chosen CheapOair, OneTravel and CheapOair.CA to provide access to its flights. All three brands are part of New York-based Fareportal.
“We’re thrilled to be able to provide customers with a convenient turn-key travel experience at the click of a button,” said Eddy Doyle, CEO of Canada Jetlines. “As we aim to offer the most convenient travel for the best value possible, Fareportal is the ideal partner to support the rapid growth and international expansion of our airline.”
The news comes on the heels of Canada Jetlines’ appointment of Percy Gyara as its new Chief Financial Officer, effective March 28, 2022.
An experienced senior Finance Leader with over 25 years of experience in North America, India and Mid-East, Gyara most recently served as VP Finance at Sunwing Travel Group. After first starting out at Canadian charter operator Skyservice Airlines, he went on to earn Certified General Accountant (CGA) status from Canada and is also a Chartered Accountant (CA) from India.
Gyara will be replacing Barbara Syrek who is pursuing a new opportunity. As CFO, Syrek was instrumental in setting up several financial systems ahead of Canada Jetlines’ launch.
In other news, Canada Jetlines’ charter service to Miami, scheduled to start this month in collaboration with GlobalX, has been postponed to later in 2022.
However, Canada Jetlines’ own launch of its new network from its Toronto hub is on track to start this summer, in July 2022. The airline recently received its stage 1 licensing approval from the CTA, and its first plane arrived at Region of Waterloo airport last month.
