TORONTO — C.J. Smith has been promoted to Director of Sales for Unique Vacations Canada, effective immediately.

Maureen Barnes-Smith, Vice President, Sales & Marketing Canada, Unique Vacations Canada, made the announcement earlier today.

“I’ve had a front-row seat to C.J.’s tremendous work ethic, loyalty, creativity and leadership skills, all of which have only been enhanced over the last two years since the onset of the pandemic,” said Barnes-Smith. “His team-first attitude is second to none and I’m incredibly proud that he is on my team here in Canada. I have absolutely no doubt that he will continue to shine and continue to grow in this new and well-deserved role.”

While Smith has been a much-respected and indispensable member of the Canadian sales team for Sandals and Beaches Resorts since 2008, his career with the company goes back more than 20 years, to 2001, with various on-resort roles at Sandals Montego Bay and Sandals Negril.

He moved to Canada in 2008 to take on the role of BDM, Alberta, based in Calgary. Seven years later, after helping to grow the Western Canadian market, he transferred to Toronto in 2015 to take on greater responsibilities working out of the Unique Vacations Canada corporate office as Senior BDM.  He’s been on an upward trajectory ever since, says Barnes-Smith. Most recently he was Senior National Sales Manager.

Smith recently completed a Bachelor degree in Business Administration (BBA). In his new position as Director of Sales, he will continue to work with national trade partners including tour operators, tourist boards and retail chains.  He will also support the team of Sandals BDMs across Canada, helping them and travel advisors in their respective regions to develop and execute successful sales and marketing strategies to increase their Sandals and Beaches business.
