SAO PAULO, Brazil – Brazilian police say a British tourist was hit by a motorcycle as he was crossing a street in the World Cup host city of Belo Horizonte.
Sgt. Jonathas Rocha is a press officer of the Belo Horizonte police department. He identified the tourist as 25-year-old Mark Fisher of Penrith, England.
Rocha said the motorcyclist fled the scene of the Tuesday morning accident.
Fisher, who suffered several bruises and a fractured tooth is hospitalized in a local hospital where he is in stable condition.
Fisher was in Belo Horizonte to watch England play against Costa Rica Tuesday afternoon.
