LAS VEGAS — Everyone knows that Las Vegas is the place to go for casinos and shows. But over the years Las Vegas has been adding more family-friendly and group-oriented attractions and adventures, for visitors who want to experience the city beyond the flashing lights and ringing bells of the casino floor.

Here’s a list of six attractions and adventures that Travelweek – in town for a press trip with the Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority – rates as the top can’t-miss attractions in Las Vegas. Some of them are relatively new. Others have been around for a while.

1. The Good Old Hockey Game

As most Canadians know, Las Vegas just received its own NHL hockey team, the Vegas Golden Knights. The team was drafted in June 2017 and will play its first game in Las Vegas on Oct. 10, 2017. More importantly, all the other NHL teams will be playing against the Golden Knights at some point during the NHL season. Hockey fans will be able to plan their trips to Las Vegas around the hockey schedule to see their favourite NHL teams. The hockey team will be playing its games at T-Mobile Arena, adjacent to the Strip and a short walk or taxi ride from MGM Grand Las Vegas and New York-New York Hotel & Casino. It is also located adjacent to The Park and Park Theater area. The Park offers outdoor dining and entertaining ideal for a pre- or post-game meal and a pre-game warmup, including Beerhaus at The Park, with an imaginative menu of sports bar food and over 50 locally produced and international beers.
