KAMLOOPS, B.C. – A rolled-up painting stored inside a tube is the latest suspicious-looking package to force an evacuation in Western Canada.
Kamloops, B.C., airport manager Fred Legace (legacy) says an employee noticed a suspicious looking package Thursday afternoon and sounded an alert.
He says the airport was evacuated and the RCMP found that the item was actually a painting rolled up for transport.
An Air Canada flight scheduled to leave for Vancouver at 5:50 p.m. was cancelled, while the carrier’s 6:20 flight departed.
Earlier this month, Metro Vancouver’s SeaBus terminal was evacuated for four hours when a suspicious item ended up being a Walkman.
A section of the West Edmonton Mall was closed to shoppers March 17 when a mysterious box was left on a bench but turned out to be a DVD player. (CFJC)
