‘Wonka’-themed flight to Brussels a hit with Air Transat passengers

MONTREAL — Air Transat’s ‘Wonka’-themed flight – celebrating the arrival of the movie on the airline’s in-flight entertainment system – met with delight from passengers.

The special activation took place on Air Transat’s May 5 flight to Brussels out of Montreal-Trudeau International Airport, as a first-time collaboration between Air Transat, Warner Bros. and Quebec-based Chocolats Favoris.

“At Transat, we believe in the transformative power of travel,” said Valérie Martin, Director of Marketing, Brand and Commercial Activities at Transat. “This Wonka-themed activation was an opportunity for our passengers to create lasting memories they will smile about long after their flight has landed. These highly targeted, passenger-focused, co-branded collaborations with other great Quebec brands like Chocolats Favoris authentically differentiate us as an airline and remind everyone that travel is about more than just getting away from it all – it’s about the journey and the magic along the way.”

At the gate, a custom cart overflowed with chocolates, candy, cotton candy and balloons – all key elements of the Wonka universe, first created by author Roald Dahl and subsequently revisited and celebrated in movies including ‘Wonka’, released in December 2023 and starring Timothée Chalamet.

One lucky passenger won an ‘Air Transat Golden Ticket’ for a trip for two as part of a raffle draw.

Onboard the flight, the crew sported special Wonka accessories throughout, while the film’s soundtrack set the tone during boarding. Inside the plane, the Wonka theme continued with customized Wonka-themed wraps and decals placed on the overhead bins and lavatories.

As the pièce de résistance, during the flight, passengers were able to watch Wonka and were treated to a custom-made chocolate bar by Chocolats Favoris.
