Arajet launches operations at Punta Cana Airport

PUNTA CANA — Arajet has launched operations at Punta Cana Airport to 14 destinations, including Toronto and Montreal.

The low-priced Dominican airline will initially operate 14 destinations to and from PUJ, including: Toronto and Montreal, Canada; Kingston, Jamaica; Lima, Peru; Mexico City and Cancun, Mexico; Bogotá, Cartagena and Medellín, Colombia; Quito and Guayaquil, Ecuador; Sao Paulo, Brazil; Buenos Aires, Argentina; and Santiago, Chile.

With this expansion, Punta Cana Airport becomes the airline’s second base of operations in the Dominican Republic, following Las Americas Airport in Santo Domingo where it began operations in September 2022.

“For Arajet, it is a firm commitment to continue democratizing the skies and connecting the continent from Canada to Argentina at the best market prices with world-class service,” said Victor Pacheco, CEO and founder of Arajet.

Pacheco also added that Arajet aims to increase passenger mobility from Punta Cana Airport, the busiest in the country, as it seeks to position the Dominican Republic as the new air hub of the continent. PUJ current manages the largest tourist air traffic in the country, connecting with 75 cities in 34 countries through 58 airlines, mobilizing over nine million passengers a year.

Giovanni Rainieri, Airside Operations Director at Punta Cana Airport, added: “This strategic alliance responds to our mission of continuing to be the airport with the most air traffic in the Dominican Republic, receiving 68% of the tourists who arrive in our country. We thank Arajet for placing its trust in our airport and inviting us to be part of its expansion plans in the country, with the purpose of promoting tourism.”
