EDMONTON – At least three people have been taken to hospital with minor injuries after an Air Canada Express flight made an emergency landing at Edmonton International Airport.
Airport spokeswoman Traci Bednard says the Q400 aircraft experienced an unspecified problem upon landing.
There were reports one of the plane’s tires blew out on takeoff out of Calgary, but high winds made it problematic for the flight to land so it carried on to Edmonton.
Flight AC8481 had been en route from Calgary to Grande Prairie on Thursday night with 71 passengers and four crew on board.
The incident forced the Edmonton airport to activate its emergency operations centre, prompting a number of emergency vehicles to attend the runway.
When the flight arrived and landed, sparks could be seen trailing behind the plane.
