Air Canada expands its global network with new routes from YYZ and YUL

MONTREAL — Air Canada is spreading its wings even further with the announcement of new global service from both Toronto and Montreal.

Nonstop services will launch next summer from these two Canadian gateways, including three new destinations in its global network: Bucharest, Zagreb and Porto, as well as a new route between Montreal and Lisbon.

From Toronto, twice-weekly, nonstop Air Canada Rouge seasonal service to Bucharest starts June 9, 2018 and ends on Oct. 7, 2018. Toronto-Zagreb (four times weekly) will operate from June 2-Oct. 8, 2018, while Toronto-Porto (also four times weekly) kicks off on June 8 and will run until Oct. 27.

From Montreal, the twice-weekly Air Canada Rouge seasonal service to Bucharest begins June 7, 2018, with the last operation from Bucharest on Oct. 5. The three-times weekly Air Canada Rouge seasonal Montreal-Lisbon service begins June 15, 2018, with the last operation from Lisbon on Oct. 27.

In addition, the airline will enhance existing year-round service between Montreal and Casablanca by transferring the route to Air Canada mainline from Air Canada Rouge, beginning June 2018. This route will operate on an Airbus A330 aircraft featuring three classes of service.

Air Canada will also be starting nonstop service to Buenos Aires from Toronto on May 2, 2018, which is currently served through a one-stop service via Santiago. It will continue to service Santiago with its nonstop service from Toronto, and will extend its new Montreal-Lima Air Canada Rouge service beginning December 2017 to year-round flights.

All new services are available for purchase now. Special introductory, all-inclusive roundtrip fares include $899 for Bucharest-Toronto/Montreal and Zagreb-Toronto; $799 for Toronto-Porto and Montreal-Lisbon; $622 for Montreal-Lima; and $1,228 for Toronto-Buenos Aires.

“Today’s announcement further solidifies Air Canada’s position as a leading global carrier. With these new services, Air Canada becomes the only North American airline flying to Romania and we are now offering the most weekly seats and frequencies from Canada to Portugal and Croatia,” said Benjamin Smith, President, Passenger Airlines at Air Canada. “Moreover, with our modernized fleet we are able to enhance our existing services, by deploying our Boeing 787 Dreamliner on a new non-stop route to Buenos Aires. Together, these new and enhanced services will provide customers greater comfort and choice, as well as the ability to conveniently connect onward through our extensive North American and International network, on North America’s Best Airline as rated by Skytrax.”
