More routes in jeopardy post-COVID but Air Canada says it will wait on govt. talks

TORONTO — More details have been released about UNITE 2020, the upcoming global virtual trade show by Saleint Inc. that combines both the leisure and MICE industries.

Taking place on Sept. 16, the two-day event is scheduled to start at 00:00 hours EDT and will be live until 23:59 hours EDT on Sept. 17.

A total of 34 exhibitor booths will showcase more than 39 destinations across five continents and represent an excess of 45 brands such as Air Canada, Korea Tourism Organization, Six Senses, Club Med, Fiesta Americana, Korean Air, Taj Hotels, Hyatt Hotels and Versace Dubai, among several DMCs and unique hotels. Air Canada will also serve as the Airline Sponsor and Collaborator for UNITE 2020.

Speaking at the event will be: IGLTA’s Vice Presidents LoAnn Halden and Clark Massad, Claudine Triolo, Six Senses’ Regional Director of Sales for Bhutan and Thailand, and Pink Media’s Matt Skallerud. There’ll also be a panel moderated by TravTalk during which MICE and luxury leisure professionals will discuss the future of India outbound and more.

Over 1,700 meetings are expected to take place over the two-day event. To date, there are over 500 buyers registered who will connect with exhibitors through one-on-one video chats. A Buyer Chat Room and Air Canada-sponsored Buyer Lounge will be additional spaces where buyers (attendees) can interact with one another and reach out for technical support.

Prizes will also be distributed, including a grand prize gifted by New World Safaris that includes a two-night stay at the One and Only Cape Town, valued at US$3,200. Other prizes include a seven-night stay with Club Med valued at $2,700 as well as several prizes contributed by exhibitors that exceed $14,000 in value and can be won through the Virtual Gamification with live results.
