ACTA unveils new tools to help agents explain long wait times and delays

TORONTO — ACTA is helping travel agencies and independent travel agents explain long wait times and travel delays to their clients with the launch of a new bilingual letter template and social media content.

Canada’s major airports, particularly Toronto Pearson, have been plagued by long wait times and flight delays and cancellations in recent weeks, due in large part to staff shortages and high travel demand. Over the July long weekend, Canadian airlines and airports claimed top spots among all global airlines in flight delays, reported tracking service FlightAware.

Said Wendy Paradis, ACTA President: “Travel disruptions are significantly impacting travel agencies, travel agents, airlines and customers. The pandemic, continued government restrictions and economy-wide labour shortages are causing distressing wait times in nearly all aspects of the travel experience.”

She added: “While the travel and tourism industry works through recovery, we have been asked by travel agencies and independent travel agents to craft communications that can be shared with customers to explain the delays.”

With ACTA’s new resources, travel agencies, travel agents and independent travel agents are free to use and edit the materials, including placing their own logo on social media content. No attribution to ACTA is required.
