I spent about seven hours in the Center, learning about Samoa, Aotearoa, Fiji, Tahiti, Tonga and, of course, Hawaii. In the Aotearoa village, we were taught the art of Long Poi Twirling. At Fiji, we learned about Bamboo Drums, and in Tonga we saw The Heartbeat of Tonga show. Other highlights included a dance lesson in Tahiti (where the very fast hip movement Hula originated), a lesson on the ukelele and the true form of Hula dancing in Hawaii, and an extremely entertaining fire-making lesson in Samoa. There was also The Canoe pageant, where native Polynesians in colourful, traditional costumes treat you to the dance and music of their cultures atop double-hulled canoes.
