Here’s a tour of this new area of the extensive Club Med Yucatan resort:
Aguamarina was chosen as the new name of the sand and white building through a Facebook contest held in March. Dedicated to family suites, Aguamarina is three stories, featuring 30 family club rooms and 30 family deluxe rooms, all with beachfront access and ocean views.
Designed by Marc Hertrich and Nicolas Adnet, Aguamarina takes inspiration from Spanish, Mexican and Mayan cultures. The designers sourced the dark wood furniture, accessories and finishings from local artisans and companies and wanted to create a welcoming environment for families on vacation.
The Family club rooms feature two bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms, a colourful space of red, pink, orange and blue with plenty of storage (two closets, and shelves in the bathroom and second bedroom) and lots of seating. The balcony offers seating while a ground-floor terrace feature lounge chairs.
The Family deluxe rooms feature two bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms, including a larger seating space with a purple sectional and a balcony with more seating or a terrace with walk-out access to the beach and a daybed. Bold colours are found throughout the space, from bed textiles to the glass doors in the bathrooms.
