Still finding your groove in 2025? Don’t sweat it – there’s no better time to set your travel business up for success than right now.
I sat down with Omar Guechtal, Member Success Manager at Envoyage, to discuss the importance of goal setting and how it can transform your business.
Omar works closely with travel advisors across our network, helping them define and achieve their goals. His mantra? Success doesn’t happen by chance; it happens by planning.
Why Set Goals?
“Let’s be real,” Omar starts. “You can’t measure what you don’t plan. Goals give your business direction and a roadmap for growth.”
He recommends starting with a look back at 2024. “Take stock of what you accomplished – big or small. Maybe you landed your first luxury client, hit a sales target, or finally streamlined your booking process. Wins are wins, and they all count.”
SMART Goals are the Way to Go
According to Omar, the secret to effective goal setting lies in making them SMART: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound.
“Vague goals like ‘I want to sell more trips’ aren’t going to cut it. Instead, try something like, ‘I want to increase my European cruise sales by 20% by the end of Q3.’ It’s clear, measurable, and gives you a deadline to work toward.”
Once you’ve defined your goals, Omar advises creating an action plan. “Think of it as your GPS for success. Break down big goals into smaller benchmarks that you can actually celebrate along the way. It’s a marathon, not a sprint, so pacing yourself is key.”
Teamwork – and Solo Work—Makes the Dream Work
If you’re an agency owner, Omar suggests turning goal-setting into a group activity. “Whether you’re leading a team of 10 or it’s just you running the show, goal-setting is essential,” he explains. “For solo advisors, it can feel even more challenging—you only have yourself to hold you accountable. That’s where the Envoyage network steps in. From our Support Team to our internal comms channel, you’ve got a whole community cheering you on. Our advisors love celebrating wins – big or small – and sharing ideas to keep the momentum going.”
Stay Flexible
While it’s important to have a plan, Omar emphasizes the need for adaptability. “If there’s one thing we know about travel, it’s that change is the only constant. Goals should give you direction, not lock you into rigidity. Stay open to pivoting when the unexpected happens – because it will.”
Progress, Not Perfection
As we wrapped up, Omar left us with this: “Goal-setting is about progress, not perfection. Celebrate every step forward, no matter how small. Success isn’t a destination – it’s a journey, and at Envoyage, we’re here for every part of it.”
So, whether you’re just starting to map out your goals or revisiting them for a mid-course adjustment, remember: you’ve got this. Let’s make 2025 the year of milestones, momentum, and travel memories.
