“So many great experiences this summer”: Visit Atlantic City

There’s been an uptick in inquiries and interest from the travel advisors in Canada – as well as more leisure group requests – for Atlantic City, says Heather Colache, Tourism Account Director for Visit Atlantic City, in this edition of Take 5.

1. Canadian travellers love Atlantic City, thanks to its proximity for many, and its long list of top-notch hotels and fun attractions. How is Atlantic City performing in the Canadian market?

“While we are not able to provide specific statistics at the moment, we are seeing an increase in inquiries and interest from the travel advisors in Canada, as well as an uptick in leisure group requests for Atlantic City.”

2. Summer is almost here, and that means many Canadian travellers will be looking for getaway destinations. Can you fill us in on the summer experiences that await in Atlantic City – the entertainment, the beach, and of course, the famous boardwalk?

“Summer offers so many great experiences in Atlantic City.  Of course it all starts with Atlantic City’s beautiful (free) beach and our award-winning, historic boardwalk that offers over four miles of enjoyment. The boardwalk includes many shops, restaurants and beach bars to enjoy, and Steel Pier, offering games and rides.

“Just beyond the boardwalk, we have Tanger Outlets Atlantic City, and we offer tax-free shopping on clothing and shoes! Other outdoor experiences include dolphin cruises, water sports, golf and cycling.

“When it comes to entertainment, Atlantic City offers permanent shows, like Hook at Caesars Atlantic City, as well as headline performers and DJs, and of course the latest in gaming at our casinos.”

3. For travel advisors looking to get reacquainted with Atlantic City, is there hotel news that you’d like to share?

“Atlantic City has nine world class casino properties, including six on the boardwalk: Caesars Atlantic City Hotel & Casio, including Nobu Hotel, Bally’s Atlantic City Hotel & Casino, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City, Ocean Casino Resort, Resorts Casino Hotel and Tropicana Atlantic City.

“The marina area offers Borgata Hotel & Spa and MGM Hotel, Harrah’s Resort & Casino and Golden Nugget Atlantic City. All of the casino properties have recently completed or are finalizing multi-million dollar renovations. For non-gaming properties on the boardwalk, we have Showboat Hotel Atlantic City, which includes Lucky Snake Arcade, and the brand new Island Water Park, and we have the historic Claridge Hotel.”

4. What are some of the top attractions in Atlantic City for the summer months?

“Top attractions in Atlantic City include: Absecon Lighthouse, Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall (which offers free concerts and tours of the oldest working pipe organ), The Wheel (the third largest observation wheel in the U.S.), wineries, craft breweries, the Anthony Bourdain Food Trail and so many more!”

5. How can travel advisors learn more about Atlantic City?
