Ports of Call Resort in the Turks & Caicos has a Canadian owner and a Caribbean spirit. Janelle Jones, Resort Marketing Administrator for Ports of Call Resort & Shops of Ports of Call, TCI, talks about why Ports of Call is the best-valued resort on Providenciales.
1. What sort of vacation does Ports of Call Resort offer?
Jones: The Ports of Call Resort offers a unique vacation experience only 300 yards from world-renowned Grace Bay Beach, with 19 kilometres of soft powdery white sand. It was ranked the #2 best beach in the Caribbean according to Trip Advisor’s 2014 Traveller’s Choice awards.
We provide free hourly shuttle service to our own supervised and equipped section on the beach. The Ports of Call Resort entices new and past travellers to visit the island of Providenciales with our exceptionally low prices, so guests can save more for dining, sightseeing and activities.
2. What’s the property’s Canadian connection?
Jones: We have a substantial connection with Canada as the President/Owner of the property, Dale Papke, is from Ontario. The Ports of Call Resort also maintains a strong partnership with two Canadian tour operators, Air Canada Vacations and WestJet Vacations, who bring thousands of travellers to our resort each year.
3. What sort of Canadian guests are you seeing at the resort?
Jones: Our resort hosts every type of Canadian traveller: families, couples, singles, business and groups, from diving to weddings to leisure. Every year we are seeing growth in travellers coming from Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Halifax, Winnipeg, Calgary and Vancouver.
4. What could a typical day include for a Ports of Call guest, in terms of things to do at the resort and also local sightseeing?
Jones: A typical day in the life of a Ports of Call Resort guest would include enjoying our complimentary continental breakfast, lounging by the pool or on Grace Bay Beach, shopping at our Ports of Call Plaza, playing pool, table tennis, singing karaoke at the bar or mingling with fellow guests at our Manager’s cocktail party.
Our central location allows guests to rent a car or scooter, walk to local restaurants, visit downtown for shopping, enjoy nightlife at the local bars and casino, book excursions and go diving and snorkelling. Most of our guests come to Providenciales for relaxation or water-based activities, however there is a multitude of sightseeing/attractions available as well.
5. What’s the one thing you want Canadian travel agents to know about Ports of Call Resort?
Jones: We want Canadian agents to know that we are the best-valued resort on the exclusive island of Providenciales. We offer our guests free continental breakfast, free WiFi, a supervised section on Grace Bay Beach with free lounge chairs and beach towels, and beach shuttle service, while still remaining once of the lowest priced on the island.
Also, we would want Canadian agents to feel confident that they are sending their clients to a safe, secure and convenient resort with the same amenities as the larger resorts on the island.
